Gravitas

Astute reader suggests removing back porch trapped laundry drain pipe (lower left of hose) may leave sewer pipe hole.  Leveling very rough backyard including eighteen inch deep grave size hole below garage street side (west) window early Swett Lodge task.  Newer cast iron sewer pipe under toilet supports city replaced sewer line from alley to house few years back rumor, left never smoothed backhoe work.  Back porch drain hadn't worked in my tenure, ease of removal assume left unattached during sewer rework.

Want help visualizing porch reconstruction to determine step monolith placement - looming BIG project, avoid falls set/level concrete block temporary back stoop pallet supports
various chunks & pieces at hand rough in
including (fancy!) brick concourse.  Conclude 5x12 deck one step below house floor, one step down surrounded will make open nice transition to (raised) ground level in back can now move old cement steps in/down under/support projected new porch.  Garden prep last fall early monolith moving education mudjack 150 lb cement 4x4 clothesline post chunk halfway between back porch/sidewalk, roll, block porch crawl space entry, evident center right photo bottom.
Continue mudjack education attempt 6'x27"x6" front east corner slab street side move.  20 ton jack (orange, decomissioned with axe directly behind shovel handle),
4x4 lever/block/persuade
onto rollers on 1/4" luan cat piss soaked underlayment on ground level.
Roughly halfway to its destination - second white 'slab walking' plywood piece in background -
makes it Miller time.  Conqueror/surfer/cab hailer/dork?!?
Walk slab: pry few inches forward, back metal roller loose put in front under slab supporting 2x12; reach plywood end bring other sheet from behind; repeat.
Park parallel to hole, slide poles atop curb, pry slab over hole, remove two end poles allow slab balance/teeter totter to level.  Still low
pry/mudjack into place.  Whew - big one, got it no huge sweat/injuries: learning.
Month (or so!) ago unable move east front walk long slab
masonry blade circle saw halve key depth unable to break.
East side street side walk looks so nice again attempt break slab.  Dig under one end just enough for persuading 4x4, get on it, 'POP' - slab breaks!  So ready to move better get it gone
into place for another day's setting.  Getting pretty good at this.
Set slab looks so good
decide: finish job, Sunday am second part long front walk onto rollers.
Attend clan birthday luncheon return: front lawn animal chomps at bit.
Some folk walk their dog on nice sunny Sunday afternoon - walk my slab: cross front lawn; down sidewalk by garden - persuaders, blocks, shovel along for the ride;
round garden horn through back yard
very close to final resting place/height.  Remainder front walk east of steps, 3x3 bottom of back steps slab will complete slab at base of new back porch when finalized.

ReStore pick up $1 sewer pipe roof flashing (pending roof replacement a ways off),
$5 18" pipe wrench - old house must have.
Donated RV horizontal ceiling cabinet shell stood vertical garage door entry adjacent, drawer added, shelves to come new tool storage: done inside for a while no point tool storage cluttering kitchen.

Have learned enough mudjacking feel comfortable tackling back step monoliths; will cut, remove remainder front walk slab, wheelbarrow behind garage fill front yard, move on to the big guys in back.  Look how much fun/results we're having not spending money!  Precariously close to house raise enough to slip treated 2x6 sill plate under sill joist allowing use of untreated lumber floor system rot replacement - save big over treated lumber replace all rot as contemplated.  Stay tuned.  Peace.
