TaxTime!

Porch a keeper finish side - move two pieces back porch interior siding; screen - door salvaged - front porch gable area.
Kate donates perfect piece lattice, bike wing home, utility knife size, brad/lath mate two halves, four nail mount finish gable/attic vent 'til paint prep time - least couple years down the road.  Note nice 'new' frosted fluted lamp globe - max diffusion - hope it lasts!
Remedial porch work necessary.  Large porch flooding hole above door - can't wait for roof/shake tear off - leaks profusely during rain
find discard rubber floor mat sneak under brittle shingle course at top, six nail: buy some time.
Remove trim/plywood half wall interior from relatively recent front porch rehab find stud walls fixing 4x4 floor length corner posts
in (wrong) places: barely under porch beams
compounded by over wide beam bottom board (above: original near/far replaced) - precarious (west corner),
water collecting.
Anticipate raising east (not this west) porch corner first install temporary safety support/sculpture.  Porch roof line downward deflection evident.
Of course jack west side first.  Latest firewood batch 4x6, jack, board
raise 4" - roof line deflection gone.
Board under east (door side) porch beam rotten under post here replaced with good original extra thick under front beam plank
run long increasing - with 2" 8x8 raise/cap block -  bearing surface.
Front beam bottom wide board removed reveals dry rot in near lower 2x4.  Middle post not doing much, precarious still.
West post more solid with double 2" 8x8 blocks, bearing surface increasing beam bottom plank chunk mated at 45 - evident from this angle.  Satisfied front porch house manipulation stabilized.
Eventually will rework bad match porch siding, walls, perhaps floor - pretty much everything below rafters (& above!) - seek couple nice columns, lower porch a step: later.

     Elmer's glue/TP rutabaga, turnip, kohlrabi, carrot seed tape;
plant.  Neighbor donated strawberries with garlic along foundation top right; radishes showing front of them; salad greens; red Russian kale; rutabaga, turnip, kohlrabi; carrots left.  Besides more radishes done planting for a while.  Squash, beans, corn next to side walk, melons, cukes, okra garden south (lower left) - yum.
Local & dog  - Doc & Cindy - stop by to check my work occasionally.
Back porch next focus.  Will tear out interior; ancient electrical setup: as always see how it goes as it goes.  Clean board jumble out of garage corner next to spare windows/glass: large chipboard, plywood pieces, glued boards, screen door, shorter molding/window pieces now.
Window pane frame expand 'lumberyard' shelf for back porch influx, garage boards load bottom shelf
clears back porch for action.  East,
west - relocated front gable siding missing right.
Back porch much noodled, enigmatic: continue cautiously.  Perhaps happy discoveries await like fine summer hat at Sal A's this am.
 Enjoy.  Peace.

Porch

Late afternoon sun beveled glass bejeweled coat, hat.

Re turn, break up soil, gently cover, shovel pat firm garlic; radish, salad, Russian kale seed tape - 'bout 120 linear row feet.  Like most here easier said than done - planting workout takes couple intense hours.
Unsharpenable carbide tipped circle saw blade cuts aggressively
sharpen finer cutting standard blade.  Circle saw teeth alternately set left, right like other saws.  Sharpen one side, other.  Tooth bottom of photo, third up file tooth top/back chisel point sharpened: remainder teeth dull.  Consistent file angle, number of strokes preferred
Sharp ready to cut: onto saw.
Want front porch ceiling/gable gone remove quarter round lining ceiling at wall, couple siding pieces each end, peel down fir tongue & groove car siding ceiling.
Eastward before
after,
westward before
after.  Note old two wire ceramic post & thimble lamp wiring - gotta move that.
Inside front gable ceiling gone.
Porch door, salvage kitchen cabinet front scrap crossed, 'lumberyard' ceiling scrap tied porch ceiling car siding, siding loaded - expansion.
Inspect ancient wire find in nearly mint condition prep lamp relocate.  Cordless drill new lamp location hole in siding,
thimble holes in studs - start high decide lower wire run better shielded by 2x4 (old wire run passes behind back stud through wall, ceiling rafter - protected by thimbles - mounted to post where wire changes direction toward old lamp location),
thimble holes - left thimble installed - through double 2x4 top wall plate into wall stud space (rock wool insulation bag corner poking into photo upper left, red tops of ladder leaning against front wall bottom).
Aside from these two at east end porch gable area not studded on front wall above door: will stud with front gable short studs.
Lamp relocating requires one stud: predrill thimble holes,
install.
Turn power off, gingerly without kinks to preserve wire insulation disconnect old fixture, dethread wire from posts & thimbles.  Where wire ran through 2x4 cut out, wall, into porch ceiling
mount best salvaged post, change wire direction
through stud thimbles
down into stud space at left - thimbles well evident, including loose one rolling around on ceiling just enough to complete job -
out through new lamp hole, lamp mount twice screwed, wires extra cloth rescued from protecting wires previously passing through ceiling shielded.
Red wire nut lamp to wires, orange plastic tie cloth shields to stay put.
In action,
close.  Enjoy: globe shattered history since Sunday's siding.
Remove 2x4 ceiling rafters: front window view,
westward.  Note yellow front wall top siding piece at right.
Fully prepared to remove porch entirely easing house raising, replace with similar design lighter metal roof carrying structure until finding porch, house framed/sided at once: decide working with what's here will be easier long run.
Sunday wonder bar, hammer loosen, remove gable siding; cat piss soaked luan protect peas, lettuce; remove gable studs from inside porch;
remove remainder siding - lookin' like SwettLodge now.
Stud front wall porch gable area, side with salvaged front gable pieces.  Two pieces siding removed from inside back porch will complete four new courses front wall siding above door.  Above that: screen - salvaged from porch doors of course - lattice covered: attic vent.  Loosely nailing - one, two nails/piece - siding 'til floor work/house shifting's complete
Definitely 'lodgier' - ultimately will add two strengthening beam top center to mid chord front gable 2x4 stringers, paint or sheath board ceiling;
airier well lit front window view.  Mid day sun already below window with peak opened - summer sun no issue - will get more mid winter sun inside, porch feels more sporting.  Sweet!  Not quite finished porch remodel cost so far: $0.
Organic approach allows pleasant surprise successful porch remodel to emerge from planned demolition - fine by me: less work!   Will keep eyes peeled for most direct routes to desired destinations along the way.  Enjoy.  Be well.
